Church counselling only made my marriage crumble
The biggest problem facing marriages today, especially Christian marriages, is that the church does not give young couples the whole biblical truth about what it takes to make a good marriage. Everybody in the church knows that the Bible tells the man to love his wife as Christ loved the church and the same Bible tells the woman to submit/respect her husband. This is because a woman’s number one need is love and a man’s is respect. However the Pentecostal church has dodged the respect or submission part so as not to appear against the women’s movement. They have in fact gone on to teach young girls in church that they are royal daughters of a king and hence deserve to be respected. The same Pentecostal church has turned to the men and said to them they have to work hard to earn their respect, and yet love the wives like Christ loved the church.
In short, men have found themselves responsible for ensuring the women are loved and also responsible for ensuring they are respected. The women have only been armed with the right to demand for love and the right to reject the man’s need to respect. Our marriage only started being enjoyable when we came across a teaching that emphasised love from the husband and respect from the wife as the fundamental biblical teaching and shunned any other that tried to justify the scraping of the respect part (Men may never admit it for fear of being labelled chauvinist, but their first need is respect, just like the women’s is love).
The Pentecostal church has dwelt on the saving grace of Christ and taken it to untrue levels. They have taught that however much one commits sin, as long as they claim to believe in Christ and ask for forgiveness, they will have all their sins removed. So, today, the church is filled with unconverted “born-again Christians”, who leave the sinful life they wish to leave. Here is the problem. While I agree that traditional Africa teaches the girls and only the girls how to please the man in bed, the Church only teaches and emphasises on how men can and should please their wives. We are taught everything from foreplay through penetration to resolution. Nobody in church teaches about what makes sex good for the man. In the end, it’s only the wife’s competition that knows the secrets to making her husband go back for more.
Man, you are right in every thing you have written. Most christian young ladies have gone wild in terms of behavior and dress codes. lack of respect home as become the order of the day.that is why most christian are single and even the one that are married have huge challenges in there marriage.Men nowadays prefer moslem ladies then christian and even give more respect to a moslem woman than to a christian because of the above issues you have written.I wonder where we shall reach with all this mess being put into our ears.

Sex. Who doesn’t love to learn more about that?
At church this past sunday, the talk was titled “The Elephant in the Church”. I really didn’t have any idea where the pastor was going to go with that. Turns out, the big smelly elephant in the church is sexual sins. Nobody talks about them – and most people are sinning in some way sexually. How can we be effective disciples of Christ if most of the church is sinning behind closed doors? God cannot bless a church (or a life) that is not in submission to His will, and frankly, sleeping around or looking at porn is not part of His will. Now, I’m not here to copy everything the pastor said, I just want to share what I learned from it. The cliff notes, if you will. You can watch the full message by clicking on this link . I would encourage you to take the time to watch it – It’s about 40 minutes long and very entertaining.
Sexual purity has been something that I’ve spent the last 2 years of my life focusing on, so this is a subject that I enjoy talking to ladies about. Because usually when we think about sexual purity we think that it’s only a man issue – You know? But that’s totally not the case! Being sexually impure is NOT just a dude sitting at his computer looking at naked chicks. It’s so much more than that. As a married girl, it’s checking out a guy with his shirt off at the pool. It’s taking a look at a butt in tight jeans. It’s watching a love scene in a movie and getting turned on. It’s fantasizing about making out with that guy you work with. As a Christian chick, it’s having sex before you’re married. And so on.
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” – Hebrews 13:4
Non-Christian Gals: During the elephant in the church talk, the pastor made something very clear that I would also like to point out. To be a Christian literally means to follow Christ. To live by the words of the Bible. To follow His commands and to submit our lives to Him daily. The Bible is talking to Christians. That being said, if you are a non-Christian, God really isn’t interested in your sex life. All He cares about is that when you find Him and choose to follow Him, you bend a knee and seek forgiveness for your past. So if you’re still trying to figure out what you think about this whole God thing, chillax - this post isn’t really for you.
