If you’re a barbecue fan and you have a killer sauce recipe, you have a chance to win bragging rights and 15 minutes of fame. D.B.A. Barbecue is hosting a sauce contest on May 28 (3-5 p.m.). A panel of judges will choose a winner and diners will select a “people’s choice” winner. The winning sauce will be available at the restaurant during the month of June.
Interested? You’ll have to get on the ball because the entry deadline is tomorrow (May 26). To enter or for additional information, email: matt@dbabarbecue.com . Only 20 entries will be accepted. Contestants will need to supply a minimum of four quarts of sauce, the recipe and a sample to the restaurant by noon on May 28. The sauce must use a ketchup base.
Even if you don’t enter, you can attend the contest and weigh-in on the people’s choice winner. What better way to celebrate National Barbecue Month?

Hello Guys, I just took 1st place in a sauce contest a few weeks ago at little river grill in canton, I had 4x as many votes as 2nd place had. They will using my sauce for the next year…It is a sweet Ketchup Ga sauce. For the win I got the name of my sauce on there menu (Big Daddy’s BBQ sauce), $100.00, and they pay for me to make the sauce for them. What they did not ask for and would never get is my recipe. Most people that are true barbecuers would NEVER give that up. I have 6 sauces Sweet southern, Hot southern, Mustard, Hot Mustard, Vinegar, and a Hot Vinegar. I have had 2 food brokers tell me it is some of the best they ever had and I am working on getting them on the market. A good sauce that makes it to a Supermarket in worth its weight in Gold. So what these people are asking goes against all that is holy in the name of BBQ contest LMAO so for those who enter Good luck and have fun. Just received this in the mail from Amazon (actually, it was sent directly from retailer CarbSmart). Simply put, Heinz’s reduced sugar & reduced carb ketchup tastes just like regular Heinz ketchup, making me wonder why Heinz doesn’t make all its ketchup this way. Anyway, this controlled-carb enthusiast is now regularly enjoying ketchup on his (alas, still mostly bunless) burger patties again; just using mustard was getting a little tiring. While some low-carb versions of previously favorite foods take some getting used to, this one doesn’t, so don’t hesitate to order this product. The price isn’t all that bad, either.
