Derek took his message from 1st John 2:1-2, telling us to remember how that Christ is our advocate. We need proper representation. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We need proper counseling. We need that. Attorneys cost money, but it doesn't cost for Him to represent us. He paid that price. He's always available whenever we need Him, every day as well as the judgement. He is our everyday comforter, He walks with us daily. We do not want to be on the outside. We need Him with us to answer our prayers. On Sunday night our crowd was small. Butch took his message from 1st Kings 11:1-4, "Deal or no deal." We are only vessels that if God does not fill, we are no good. So many were away with Against the Downpour, who were in concert at Shiloh in Appling. We appreciate those that support our young people and the band. Pray for them as they will be headed to Pensacola, Fla., July 29-30 to participate in the playoffs for the Battle of the Bands sponsored by Unity Fest. I believe our band is in second place at this time. Jackie Bell, along with Ginny, Chelsea and Allison Bell have returned from a nice trip to Daytona.We are anxiously looking forward to our Homecoming this coming Sunday at 10 a.m. We will not have Sunday School but will be blessed with the Sonrise Trio in concert, leading up to the message. Following that, a delicious barbecue and stew lunch in the fellowship hall. Ruby Guinn give me great news and I'm so appreciative of, that she and Wanitta attended the annual Harrison/Erma Stewart Reunion recently held at Hard Labor Creek State Park. She tells me the Southern Belles were glistening and the gentlemen were sweating in the heat, but all had a great time. About 100 attended this reunion. Ruby not only blesses us with her voice but she is a blessing to her family. She has been helping her sister, Eva, with her brother-in-law, Payne, following his recent surgery. He is doing well at home at this writing. Nicole reported that our Bible School was a huge success, following on Friday night with the commencement service and a cook-out with the children enjoying water slides. The money collected during the week will help support the translation of Sunday School materials into other languages. Nicole would like to thank each of those that helped to make this a successful Bible School. Both Nicole and Mackenzie Morris visited Shondia Evans in the hospital.Hard Labor Creek - News

Abstract
I present a study done to determine the characteristics of the LHIRES III spectrograph on the 20 inch RC Optics telescope at Hard Labor Creek Observatory. I describe the settings of three different diffraction gratings, collimation and focus issues, and practical aspects of use. The spectrograph was used with a SBIG ST-8XME camera for all studies. Data collection was accomplished with the Maxim DL software package and analysis was completed with IRAF. Solutions for the dispersion relation with all three diffraction gratings were found. Several projects are underway with this instrument. I present time series spectra of α Vir to demonstrate the practical applications of the spectrograph. This non-radially pulsating star shows Doppler shifts that were recorded in the Si III 4552, 4568, 4574 Å triplet over the course of a night. The observed profile variations showed the spectrograph capable of exacting scientific work.
