New Wellness Center Planned for Desert Hot Springs
The City of Desert Hot Springs will break ground on its new Community Health and Wellness Center Friday, June 24.
The 26,000 square foot facility will be home to a comprehensive preventive health care program and will also house a new Boys & Girls Club. The general public will have access to all of the components.
"As we began planning for a new Boys & Girls Club to serve the youth of this community, we began to realize that there were larger community health and wellness issues in play," Mayor Yvonne Parks said. "With the land and funds in place to build a major facility, we saw this as an opportunity to create something that will not only benefit our youth, but our entire community."
The Desert Hot Springs Community Health and Wellness Center will consist of five main components:
Health and Wellness Center Boys & Girls Clubhouse Athletic Center with a Gymnasium Aquatic Center a Dedicated Learning CenterThe 8,000 square foot Athletic Center will feature a gymnasium with an all-purpose flooring suitable for basketball, volleyball and other sports and activities.
The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony at 12:30 p.m. June 24 at Cholla Drive and Pierson Boulevard. Drawings of the project will be available.
