Keeping Valdosta Citizens Informed" For decades Citizens have been ill informed. Much like the dictates of the Old disgraceful Valdosta City Charter of 1860, that was displayed in City Hall until it was RELUCTANTLY removed in early 2004. Valdosta and South Georgia appears to be 100% perfect, but when one dig deep into the realities of our community they find a different story. Moreover, people refuse to discuss these problems openly because of fear. 1st Mr. John Robinson Addresses the council on the "Economically Oppressed" citizens in Valdosta and Lowndes County as well as around the nation. He has been fighting for equal justice under the law for decades even though he has medical conditions that you can discover by following him on YouTube and by blogging. He was in a legal fight in Florida for over twelve-years and in the end he finally won and because of his unselfish mind set and heart beat many other people benefitted by him winning his legal battle. 2nd George Boston Rhynes addresses the council on the issue open government in Valdosta-Lowndes County Georgia. This problem has been going on for decades. Then on July 5, 2005 fifteen citizens were arrested and transported to the Valdosta-Lowndes County Jail and held without bond for twenty --four hours. This control, suppress and abate local citizens was originally put in place specifically for slaves and free people of color along with dogs, cats and other livestock in Valdosta in 1860. It was reluctantly removed in early 2004 because I asked that it be removed because of its disrespect of Black African American citizens. For more on this Valdosta City Charter of 1860 just do a Google Search and the truth will be revealed. It will also show that our Mayor John Fretti and several other council members had no problems with it being displayed in Valdosta City Hall. At last nights council meeting placing citizens to be heard at the end of the agenda was also discussed.This means that no one can ever respond to citizens concerns at these public meeting in the State of Georgia following citizens address to council. How Sad? Following citizens giving their views the only item left on the agenda is---adjournment! After you read the Valdosta City Charter of 1860 you will understand much better why as a retired military veteran I cannot accept American Citizens being mistreated in this manner.
