Alternative-Powered Commercial Vehicles On Display Today At Interstate Ford
Interstate Ford Services of Hartford is showcasing a range of alternative-powered commercial trucks and vehicles today at its dealership.
The exhibit includes compressed natural gas-powered (CNG) and liquid-propane gas-powered (LPG) light and medium duty trucks, along with electric-powered taxis and vans.
"We also have the conventional technology on display as well," said Dan Rawson, the dealership's manager of truck equipment.
The vehicles — 20 of them, will be on display today until 2 p.m.
Interstate Ford is located at 45 Brainard Road in Hartford.

Ohio Court Ruling on Competitive Price Assistance Program - Ford
DEARBORN - On June 10, 2011, a state court judge in Ohio ruled against the company in a case about a previous program called the Competitive Price Assistance Program, used from 1987 to 1997 in the sale of medium- and heavy-duty trucks in the U.S. The judge also ruled that damages from the one dealer in this case should be applied across 3,100 Ford dealers resulting in a potential payment of $2 billion. We believe the decision made Friday by a state court judge in Ohio is highly flawed and we are appealing. Below is a brief Q&A with David Leitch, group vice president and general counsel. Q: Why do you believe the decision is flawed?
A: The evidence we presented at trial showed clearly that the former Competitive Price Assistance program – which was a common practice formerly used by companies selling in the extremely competitive medium- and heavy-truck market – resulted in tens of thousands of additional sales benefitting our customers and dealers, and it did not violate our agreement with dealers.
We believe among the most egregious errors was the decision to apply alleged damages from this one case to each and every dealer in the class without allowing any evidence of how other dealers might have been affected.
The decision is far outside the bounds of normal legal process, and we are confident that the Ohio appellate courts will reach the same conclusion upon review of the matter, which will take several years based on normal timing.
Q: When do you have to pay the $2 billion judgment?
A: Given the facts of the case, we do not believe the ruling will stand. It is important to note that this process will take several years to complete and no payment is required until all appeals are exhausted.
Q: What is the CPA program?
A: The Competitive Price Assistance Program was a program we used from 1987 to 1997 to help our dealers remain competitive in the medium- and heavy-duty truck market. It was a common practice used in the industry and ended when we sold that part of our business in 1997. In short, if a dealer had a customer who was actively negotiating to purchase a competitor’s heavy- or medium-duty truck, they could ask the company to provide assistance to ensure the Ford products were priced competitively. This program successfully assisted our dealers in securing tens of thousands of additional sales of heavy- and medium-duty trucks during the duration of the program.
