This week in one man's utopia, we take a look at some of the pop culture clowns that have haunted us in the past. Also included, a mini-review of Pirates of the Caribbean 4, the best character on TV, the Muppets Kitchen with Cat Cora, Ice Cream Man - the movie and my ultimate video game battle.

I can't give you good explanation for this column. This one has been stirring in me for quite some time. I wish I could pinpoint an event that led to this thought. I wish there was a current event that this subject tied into. All I can tell you for sure is that I was flipping through the channels on a lazy Sunday afternoon and saw Garfield . More importantly, I saw Garfield's favorite TV show with the clown. That got me to thinking about clowns which leads me to this column. A column about… Since he was kind of, sort of the inspiration for this column, I guess Binky is a good enough starting spot. HEEEYYY KIIIDDDSS!!!! Binky tells Garfield everything he needs to know, even about trick or treating. I can never really place Binky. Is he the formulaic morning clown host, or is there something more sinister at play here? Binky's default face seems to be one of maniacal undertones. Binky seems just at home brainwashing children into buying subpar products and possibly leading them down a path of crime as he would showing them shoddy cartoons and showing up at their house to sing "Happy Birthday." Our only clues come from Garfield who seems to have a love/hate relationship with the guy. There are times when Garfield is running for the TV in order to catch the latest episode and other times where Garfield can't get far enough away. Ambiguity, thy name is Binky. Take most everything I said about BINKY and just change the name to Krusty. There are differences, but I see a lot of BINKY in Krusty. There is no mystery behind Krusty's action. There is no question of whether the children (and some adults) in Springfield love Krusty. They do. They love their Krusty. They love their Itchy and Scratchy . Krusty's motivations are see through – he's out to get your money. While Krusty will fall short of actual murder or using the children for murder (something I'm still not sure BINKY wouldn't do), he needs your cash to support his many vices. Krusty is a walking paradox.
